Just a quick update.
Gertie is growing like a weed.
I'm in love with her brilliant red coat, we have not had such a brilliant red since her mother.
Ginger is still bred,no baby yet..
Her face has darkened so much with the colder weather, you wouldn't recognize her in her summer coat if not for her tell tale crab claw ear.
I lost my most favorite hen of all time,Miss Tilly,my Russian Orloff, seems one of my ewes stepped on her...I found her crushed in the sheep's pen....I'm heart broken.
Miss Tilly center front, greeting me on the doorstep, she thought she was a cat and came running to "here kitty kitty", her antics will be missed greatly...
I will be cutting back on my posting for awhile,I will be doing some just not as much.
The reason being is I'm expecting....not a calf or lamb but a human baby...surprise !!
This is my first baby and due to arrive within weeks...
I'm getting pretty tired and DH has been doing most of the barn chores for me.
I will leave you with another cute picture of Gertie....

Oh I am so excited for you. You are very good at keeping this to yourself. I know you are going to love sharing your beautiful farm life with your child. You are going to be an excellent Mother. I know from experience that the farm life is a wonderful fulfilling life for children to live and experience. My girls were talking about that over Christmas and they would certainly know. Congratulations Farmer I am as excited for you as I am sure you are.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about Miss Tilly
Take care my friend. A big hug. B
Oh my! What wonderful news! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI pray you have an easy labor/delivery and get some good sleep in the mean time.
Oh. My. Cuteness!!! I love that little face! Wish I could give it some kisses (a weakness of mine: kissing ALL animals)!!!!
ReplyDeleteStacy Congrats!!! Your life is gonna get heckteck by about 10 fold!!!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that we go stormless until you have your baby!
I am in love with Gertie. She is just an angel. Congratulations on your new addition. Good luck and I wish you a happy and helathy new year.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the expected arrival of you little one, Stacy. Motherhood will certainly keep you busy, but as others said in these comments, your child will have a grand time on the farm. I know my kids love the animals. My nine-year-old has become my shephard boy for Isla and Thistle.
ReplyDeleteTake care and get plenty of rest. You'll need it. What I missed most when the babies began to arrive was my sleep.
Congratulations on your impending arrival! My lady says that Gertie is telling her that someday she needs to have Highland Cattle. They are adorable when small and handsome when adult! Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog and congratulations on the little one that you are expecting! I love new lives, human and animal:). I was so excited to see a fellow Annapolis Valley dweller visit my blog and even more excited when the first thing I saw upon visiting your blog was highland cattle...and then a jersey...and heritage hens!
ReplyDeleteWithout making this a novel...we have just recently moved here and hope to have a milk cow as soon as we can build a barn. It has been my plan to eventually have a highland/jersey milk cow:).
I look forward to reading more about your life, I feel that I can learn much.
