One more to go!

The last lamb was born today at 4pm.
A big healthy ram lamb who appeared to be over due by the size of him and the fat rolls on his neck.
Molly had a struggle but hubby was there to help and had to pull him.

He is very vocal, cute and strong.
He was up within 4 minutes of being born looking for milk!

More later...

Sunny barn yard tour..

I can't say enough how Gertie is turning into a spectacular example of the breed.
Gertie has such a thick coat, she reminds me of a little buffalo.

We are both very pleased with Yeoman as our new bull, who would have thought we would see such a difference in our calves?
Now here's hoping for excellent feet

And a spectacular set of horns!

We have been having pretty nice weather around here, everyone has been out to enjoy.

Even Jacob, the tom that showed up in November, made it out of the barn to lay in the sunny sawdust barn, Jacob hardly leaves the barn.

Blue loves the barn cats, Enjoying the sun with James..

He follows me everywhere protecting me from the geese.

Moses has such a unique coat, the color variation is stunning..look at those curls!

I thought this was a neat picture..

It is lichen and moss growing on the little barn roof, the sun was shinning through the lichen making it look like little balls of fire..

I hope your enjoying a sunny day!!

Introducing...

Introducing Louise (white) and Moses (colored).
I love how Louise looks like her momma and Moses looks like his daddy, so special to have twins that are different colors.

We debated over names and decided these fit well.
Louise was so tiny, around 5lbs, and she needed a little help to nurse and get warmed up, so a name meaning warrior seemed to fit,she is such a fighter plus its cute and who has a sheep named Louise?

Moses was chosen because it is a strong name meaning saviour.
As you know this little guy will replace our old ram and in doing so will help save the breed for future generations.
He is so big and strong, 8lbs, and has his daddy's big broad face and color.

These guys are awful cute and sure make it feel like spring around here.

Twins!!

A quick post to let you know Nan delivered her lambs this morning.
Everyone is doing well and no assistance was needed.
The hard part is I sure want to hold them and cant yet!

We have a little black ram and a pure white ewe...Wellington left us with a replacement and what better then a ram that looks like him..

I will have better pictures later, I'm still trying to figure out my new camera I got for our anniversary present.

Just a few pictures

The weather today is fantastic, it feels like spring is near.
I woke up to the sound of chickadees and blue jays outside the window.

I thought a trip to the barn to check on everybody would make the day that much better.

Going to the barn involves dealing with the likes of this..

Edmund is just getting grumpier by the day as egg laying season is upon us and he feels the need to protect his lady and the nest.
He has been a big pain in my butt so today he got locked in a horse stall after trying to beat me with his wings!

Nan has me worried about her size...she is massive...my concern is prolapse, thankfully no signs of that have presented so far.
She is the biggest ewe we have and this is the biggest baby belly I've ever seen...the pictures don't quite do it justice,I expect she will have triplets.
I checked her to see how milk production was,you can see in the picture under her tail that she has plenty of milk.
Nan was also starting to loosen up in her hind end,it won't be much longer.
I let her wander around free with me while I had a visit will the rest of the gang, we where two preggos walking on icy ground, lol

Here are a couple of pictures of Gertie I took while I was out...loving her little chicklet teeth!

For those wondering,I'm doing well...the baby will arrive VERY soon and I will update you as I can.
I hope you all are having as much of a beautiful day as we are in Nova Scotia.

Renovations

I thought I would show you some recent renovations we did over the fall.

First off the room was renovated when we bought the house but not completed.
We did insulate, put up gyprock, added new paint and laid hardwood floors.
Because it was a spare bedroom and with a entire house to renovate money was spent on everyday rooms instead and that was the extent of the renos.

As you know the need for the spare room to take priority came up as we are expecting our first baby.
We turned the room into our nursery.

Some before and after shots...(please try to ignore the amount of dust from the renos)

The two hundred year old wooden windows were so drafty it was the number one must go.
As you can see we had nice new hardwood but no baseboard.

The old window out and the hole being cut for the new, much larger window.

Baseboard and casing all new, plus quarter round was put up by the beams.

Fresh paint made a huge difference to the before dark walls..

A new light was added..
Then we had to pick a door style for the wardrobe we were having our Mennonite friend make for the baby..

I found the perfect picture to put in the nursery...it matched so well...
I'm very pleased with the renovation.
I have the room all set up and waiting for the arrival of baby.

here's a little peak...what do you think?
