Digging Up Graves

While on a recent outing in our back field to pick blueberries I made a gruesome discovery.
I noticed what looked like a small set of ribs sticking out of the grass next to the blueberry patch.
My mind raced counting the calves in my head making sure I could account for each of them.
As I got closer it was clear what it was.My heart sank.
The curls in the wool told me it was one of my sheep and not the neighbors.
Just before we sold the girls,Minnie got bloat and passed away,Hubby brought her to the edge of the field where he dug a grave and placed her to rest.
This was a couple of months ago and this gruesome mess was fairly recent, you see two weeks ago we checked the blueberry progress and it was not there then.
I can only assume how many coyotes are responsible.
They had four separate piles of bones and wool.
Her body was drug 150ft from her grave. She was at the front of this picture and ended up next to the tree line and 3 places between.

This makes me worry about my calves knowing the coyotes did this while they where in that pasture and that they where desperate enough to dig up a rotting carcass.
What a terrible animal coyotes are,I wish they where not around.
We will do our best to gather up her remains and lay her to rest again, hoping this time she finds peace.

Introducing

As you know I don't get much spare time these days to update my blog and I do apologize for that.
I have been busy being a mom and farming besides.
My little darling is already four months old,she has her first tooth through and is growing before my eyes.
Life could not get much better, being a mom is a very special job and I'm so glad to have that job.

Once again a quick post, a introduction.
I have a new addition on the farm.
Sunday night we welcomed a bull calf to the farm,Monday morning in the daylight we realized we had a heifer, it can be confusing to just look from a distance and guess the gender of Highlands, good thing momma is friendly so I could catch the calf and check.
