A ramble of odds and ends from the past few days...
Well we survived the blizzard,a total of 54cms of snow fell, just under 2 feet.
It was so very windy, some had wind up to 150kms/hr or 94/mph, I worried about my barn but it held strong.
It will be the last time it needs to weather a storm with its ancient walls.
We are starting this Saturday to replace the worn boards with cedar shakes. This is a huge project and a costly one so right now we will do the main entry then in a couple months another side.
It's our anniversary gift to each other,10 years on Sunday.
To give you a idea, this is what my barn should look like by summer...keep in mind I don't have the windows but we do have the big door, another door above it to the mow and this is exactly the shape and size of my barn.
I'm also going to use my pile of granite rocks I have to build a garden like the one in the photo. My sheep fence was in that area and it will now be taken down to make way for gardens and a swing for my baby from the big oak tree.
I will post pictures as we progress.
I made brown bread today,it was so nice to have that fabulous smell fill the house.
It's not often I find the time anymore so that was a plus.
I have also been working on a quilt for my little miss,I was hoping to get it done for her Birthday but I'm not to sure that will happen. Hand sewing 2" squares is alot of work!
I hope the colors look ok...only another 20 or so sections this big, then the back...sigh
On our mid afternoon check of the critters I snapped a few pictures of Wolfgang, he sure is sweet!
Such a curious,loving boy.
Close ups of his mom..
Those stunning blue eyes...
And my sweet Sugar....love this girl...
Until next time...

Snow Storm
Hunkering down and preparing for the biggest storm of the season.
Fresh straw bedding and extra hay to the cow barns.
We are getting pounded with high winds and 40cms of snow overnight.

Where to sleep
We had two days full of nasty cold, bitter, blowing snow.
Today was a day to try to recover from it although it is still bitter cold out there.
Yesterday we moved Wolfgang and his mother into our "calving pen", to keep her away from the bull and give them their own barn away from everyone else.
Wolfgang seems to enjoy the snow like a true Highland would,he spends more time out in the weather than in the barn full of dry straw.
I worry about him so I encourage his momma into the barn..
She follows when I call,I wait for Wolfgang to follow her.
Like a good boy he does,he goes right in the barn.
His momma stands guard, blocking the doorway so he stays in and I stay out.
I feel better now knowing he is in a cozy barn, so off I go to feed the chickens and horses.
I decide to go back to check him before coming in the house...
He's right back in the same spot OUTDOORS! Little stinker!!
